Who we are
Service Biz Hero, LLC builds software for field-service businesses. This policy covers the Service Biz Hero dispatcher web app, the Service Biz Hero Tech technician app, and this website.
What the product is
Service Biz Hero is scheduling, routing, technician, and billing software for recurring home-service companies, such as solar panel cleaning, pest control, and critter guard. A company (the "customer company") signs up to run its own operations on Service Biz Hero: its office staff schedule and dispatch jobs, and its technicians complete them from a phone in the field.
Two kinds of people
This policy covers two different groups of people, and the data we hold about each is different:
- Staff of a customer company — dispatchers, office admins, and technicians who sign in to the Service Biz Hero apps to do their jobs.
- The customer company's own clients — the homeowners and property owners the customer company serves, whose service records the customer company stores in Service Biz Hero.
What data we process
For staff who sign in to the apps, we process: name, email address, phone number, role, and a signed-in session held in the device's secure storage (the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore), so a technician does not have to sign back in for every job.
For a customer company's own clients, the customer company stores in Service Biz Hero: name, email address, phone number, service address, and job records — what service was performed, when, and by whom. Technicians take before-and-after photos of completed work as part of the job record. Those photos, and job and route data more generally, are also queued on the technician's phone in the app's standard local storage (not the secure Keychain/Keystore used for the signed-in session) so work can continue where there is no signal, and are uploaded once the connection returns.
Who controls this data
The customer company controls the data about its own clients. Service Biz Hero processes that data on the customer company's instructions, as a data processor — we do not decide what a customer company collects about its clients, or how long it keeps that data beyond the choices described below under Retention.
Where data is stored
Data is stored with Supabase, hosted on AWS in the US West region. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. There is no third-party analytics or tracking software in this website or in either app — we checked the source code of both apps and this site to confirm that before writing this sentence, and found none.
Retention
Data is kept for the life of the customer company's agreement with Service Biz Hero. A customer company, or one of its own clients, can ask us to delete data, and we will.
Text messages
Service Biz Hero can send SMS text messages — appointment reminders and "technician is on the way" notices — on behalf of a customer company to that company's own clients. We only send these where the customer company has recorded that the client consented to be texted; if consent status is unknown, no message goes out. Any client can opt out, and we honor that opt-out going forward.
Children
Service Biz Hero is a business tool. It is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 18.
Security
Each customer company's data is walled off from every other customer company by row-level access controls in our database, enforced on every query. Data is encrypted in transit. A technician's signed-in session is held in the phone's secure storage. No security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee that data will never be accessed without authorization.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. We will update the effective date above when we do.
